Curtis Lepore is an American internet celebrity and rapist known for his Vine videos.[1][2] As of July 2014, Lepore had 5.4 million followers on Vine.[3]
Career
Until a controversy in 2013, Lepore was part of one of the first online celebrity couples with his relationship to popular video blogger Jessi Vazquez.[2] They were supposedly introduced by Jessica's manager and engaged in a handful of public stunts and appearances as part of their relationship, including a public meeting in Washington Square Park which featured a live band and a special hashtag to commemorate the event.[2] At the time, Lepore had over 1 million VINE followers.[2]
Rape Case
In October 2013, Lepore allegedly raped his then-girlfriend Jessi "Smiles" Vazquez.[4] The incident in question was when Vazquez was in Los Angeles recovering from a concussion.[4] Vazquez claims Lepore came over to help while she was recovering and once asleep, Lepore raped her.[1][5] Charges were filed in January 2014, Lepore, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was released on $100,000 bail.[6][7]
In February 2014, Lepore took a plea deal in the case, pleading guilty to felony assault.[1][8] In response, Lepore tweeted, "Fav this if you would willingly have sex with me."[9] XOJane.com reported that many of his female fans remain supportive.[9]
