HitRecord on TV is a 2014 American television variety series created by Joseph Gordon-Levitt with executive producers Jared Geller, Brian Graden, and Belisa Balaban. The series premiered on 18 January 2014 on Pivot in the United States.[1] The satellite variety show currently airs on Pivot Verizon FIOS, AT&T U-verse, DirecTV, and Dish. The show is supported by TakePart.

The first three episodes were shown at 2014 Sundance Film Festival on January 18, 2014.[2]

Early development

hitRECord is an open-collaborative production company established by Joseph Gordon-Levitt in 2010 that has developed into an innovative community of over 100,000 artists of all disciplines (writers, filmmakers, musicians, etc.) adding 250 new members and 2,500+ new pieces of art every day.

hitRECord’s work has been presented at Sundance 2010 & 2012, Toronto International Film Festival 2011, British Film Institute and live venues and colleges of various capacities around North America (from 99 seats up to 2,000). They recently formed a publishing partnership with HarperCollins to produce and distribute 3 volumes of The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories (vol. 2 is released in November 2012).

hitRECord's biggest collaborative project to date is HITRECORD ON TV, a new take on the variety show starring, created, and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The show is made collaboratively by a community of hundreds of thousands of artists from all over the world and it features short films, live performances, cartoons and much more. Premiered on Pivot, January 18, 2014 at 10PM ET/PT

In January 2014, Pivot announced the renewal of HITRECORD ON TV for a second season.
