Hans Fredrik Lennart Neij (born 27 April 1978), alias TiAMO, is a co-founder of The Pirate Bay, a BitTorrent index site and tracker. He also owned the web host PRQ, which previously hosted The Pirate Bay.

The Pirate Bay Trial

On 31 January 2008, The Pirate Bay operators — Neij, Peter Sunde, Gottfrid Svartholm and Carl Lundström (CEO of The Pirate Bay's former ISP) — were charged with "assisting [others in] copyright infringement". The trial began on 16 February 2009. On 17 April 2009, Neij and his co-defendants were found to be guilty of "assisting in making copyright content available" in the Stockholm district court (tingsrätt). Each defendant was sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to pay damages of 30 million SEK (approximately €2,740,900 or US$3,620,000), to be apportioned among the four defendants. The defendants lawyers have appealed to the Svea Court of Appeal together with a request for a retrial in the district court because of the recent suspicion of bias on behalf of judge Tomas Norström. On appeal, the jail sentences were reduced, but the damages increased. The supreme court of Sweden subsequently refused to hear any further appeal.

International Arrest

In early November 2014, Peter Neij was arrested on the boarder between Laos and Thailand. He was wearing the same shirt as in his arrest warrant from 2010 .
