Tags added as this article is in need of some solid editing. Since it was voted to keep the article - then article needs to focus on Teina Pora - not be a page to push the POV about a possible miscarriage of justice. It definitely needs mentioning - but shouldn't be the majority of the article. He has been twice tried and convicted of murder - yet you would almost not realise it after reading the article as it stands now. Clarke43 (talk) 05:42, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've done some further tidying. It turns out there is actually nothing apart from the sentence in the led about his two trials - so this needs adding. While the doubts about his conviction section is quite large - I've tried to centralised all the information so it can be reviewed as required. As further information is added to the page it may end up not looking like such a big section. Clarke43 (talk) 01:42, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Royal Prerogative

The article states

"Pora has since applied for the Royal Prerogative of Mercy, under which the Governor-General can order a new trial."

This is properly referenced, but is wrong. During the exercise of the Prerogative of Mercy, the Governor-General can order a new appeal, not a new trial: see section 406 of the Crimes Act 1961.

Not sure if my pointing this out in this way would be original research. Any views?

The article which contains the apparently wrong information is focused on things other than legal issues, so I'd quietly drop it as the source for legal details. Currently the sentence in question reads
Pora has since applied for the Royal Prerogative of Mercy, under which the Governor-General can order a new trial.<ref name="flawed"/>
I suggest changing that to
Pora has since applied for the Royal Prerogative of Mercy,<ref name="flawed"/> which could lead ...<ref name="something else">
Ideally don't use the legislation as the second ref, but a secondary source that's focused on legal details / processes. Stuartyeates (talk) 22:39, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs a photo. Anyone know how to do that? Steevensen (talk) 23:29, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Grandson

I doubt that Pora has acquired both "a daughter and grandson" since his release. Obviously he had a daughter before being imprisoned.101.98.155.186 (talk) 00:46, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
