Image modification is a part of Imaging science which is a digitally or analog manipulation of a photograph or any artwork, each originating in a two-dimensional image. This is done by photo laboratory and/or graphics software (in most cases, analog images is being modifed analog, and digital images is being modified digitally).

Objectives include qualtiy improvements, cutting, contrast, coloring, resolution and size.
