A Pacsafe "portable safe", with integral mesh cage and cable for locking to a fixture

Pacsafe is a brand of travel equipment with emphasis on anti-theft features. Pacsafe is headquartered in Hong Kong with offices in the United States, Germany, and China. The company's range of products include adventure backpacks, urban and leisure bags, women’s bags, photography bags, luggage and travel accessories such as straps, cables and locks.

History

Outpac Designs Limited, makers of Pacsafe®, was established in 1998 in Hong Kong by two Australians.[1] Their inspiration behind the original Pacsafe product and travel security products came while travelling in South America, where they saw chicken wire put around bags to protect it against theft. Shortly afterwards, they created the wire cage system eXomesh®, the Pacsafe® 85L, big enough to enclose an 85-litre backpack, later adding other sizes.

We are the global traveller’s best mate with innovative designs and unrivalled anti-theft technology. We offer functional travel gear you can rely on. We have your back and inspire people to travel more and have fun.

At the heart of every Pacsafe® product is one clear purpose - to keep travellers one step ahead of the game by keeping their gear secure from opportunistic thieves. We give travellers the peace of mind they need to get on and get out there on the road less travelled.

We want travellers to create an album packed full of rich memories and stories that they'll be telling friends in years to come. And as travellers at heart, whether they've been on Safari in South Africa, backpacking in the Golden Triangle or enjoying that cruise of a lifetime, we want to be part of that experience with them. We like to see ourselves as their best travel mate or buddy - we've got you (and your gear) covered so that you can get out there and enjoy the journey.

Our heritage is anchored in delivering innovative travel products that integrate unique award-winning, anti-theft technology. And while we stay true to our core, that 'No one deserves to get ripped off', we continue to evolve both our technology and designs. So not only are our products engineered and tested to thwart thieves and stand up to the rigors of travel, they're simple and stylish enough for everyday use. So, whether you're travelling to and from work, relaxing with your feet up on a white, sandy beach (Mojito in hand), touring Cairo's Grand Pyramids or visiting relatives in London, there's a Pacsafe for everyone and every situation.

In 2005, Pacsafe® locks were made compatible with the Travel Sentry standard used by many international airport security authorities. In 2006, the Citysafe™ series was added to enhance the women’s travel bag lineup. By 2012, Pacsafe® had expanded their range to include adventure backpacks, urban and leisure bags, women’s bags, photography bags, luggage and travel accessories that all incorporate anti-theft features.

June 2014, innovative pioneers in anti-theft travel gear, Pacsafe® debut an adventure inspired Duffel bag collection and secure foldable packables, an urban-esque every day Camera bag range for the gadget savvy go-setter along with a new secure camera strap series, 2 new urban & leisure women’s collections and 3 RFIDsafe™ wallet collections to reflect Pacsafe’s defined travel segments – adventure, urban & leisure. Design & development focussed on providing a Pacsafe® for every traveller and this is strongly reflected in each of the new collections & segments through integrated security, enhanced functionality & versatility, elevated new designs and a consistent, unified visual brand language.

Anti-theft features

Exomesh (styled "eXomesh") is Pacsafe's name for the anti-theft technology found in most of its products. It is a strong, lightweight, flexible, high-tensile, stainless steel, wire mesh which is used as a cage system (locks closed and secures to fixture with a heavy-duty locking device) externally fitted to bags or laminated between fabric to form a bag and act as a slashgaurd to help prevent opportunistic theft.

Our patented Carrysafe straps are adjustable and reinforced with a high-tensile stainless steel wire to prevent opportunistic bag slashers from slicing through bag straps.

Hooks with a special turning mechanism or dual-release buckles is an added addition to the straps. They securely locks the strap to the bag and can also be unfastened to wrap the strap and bag around a secure fixture.

Concealed zippers can be locked down and attached to clips to prevent thieves from accessing the bag. ToughZip is a puncture-resistant zipper that prevents luggage from being forced into using a ballpoint pen or similar object.

Interlocking zip pullers ingeniously slide on top of one another and interconnect making it harder for pickpockets to unzip your bag and whip out your valuables when engaged with the Roobar™ anti-theft anchor lock. The Roobar™ locks down zippers, slashguard anchor straps and locking cables. They can be found on selected Pacsafe bags.

Strong, lightweight and hard-to-cut webbing and straps made from Dyneema that attach to wallets, camera and other mobile devices to help prevent thieves from running off with your equipment.

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) refers to technologies that use radio frequencies to automatically identify people or objects. RFID blocking material is made of special a rip-stop conductive fabric with other components that shields radio frequency transmissions. It is applied to pockets in Pacsafe bags and RFID-blocking wallets to prevent thieves from downloading sensitive personal information from passports, bank and credit cards with medium to high frequency transmissions (10MHZ-3GHZ).
