Paul Andrew is an British-born footwear designer based in New York. He launched his eponymous women's footwear line in September of 2012.[1]

Early Life

Andrew was born in 1979 in Berkshire county in England where his father was a royal upholsterer at Windsor Castle.[2]

Career

Paul Andrew graduated from the Berkshire College of Art and Design (now Reading College) where his senior collection was recognized by [[Vogue (magazine]|Vogue]].[3] This led him to an apprenticeship with Alexander McQueen.[3] After spending several months in McQueen's atelier designing shoes, Andrew was introduced to Narciso Rodriguez through Vogue and subsequently moved to New York to work with Rodriguez during his shoe and bag lines' launch.[4] After several years with Rodriguez, he was brought onto Calvin Klein's team to design men's and women's shoes.[3] After 3 years at Calvin Klein, he met Donna Karan, for whom he worked for ten years, eventually becoming the vicepresident of Collection Accessories Design.[5][4]

In 2013, Paul Andrew was awarded the "Launch of the Year" by Footwear News,[5] and was awarded "Accessories Design of the Year" for the 2013 edition of "Who is on Next?"[6] In November 2014, he won the 11th annual Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund,[7] becoming the first and youngest British footwear designer to win the competition.[2] In March 2015, Paul Andrew was nominated for a CFDA Swarovski Award for Accessory Design.[8]
