Rodeo is the debut studio album by American hip hop recording artist Travis Scott. It was released on September 4, 2015, by Grand Hustle Records and Epic Records.[1] The album features additional guest appearances from Quavo, Schoolboy Q, Future, 2 Chainz, Juicy J, The Weeknd, Swae Lee, Chief Keef, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Young Thug and Toro y Moi.

The album was supported by the singles "3500" and "Antidote". The album was preceded by the release of his second mixtape, Days Before Rodeo.

Background

On January 15, 2015, Scott announced the title of his debut album, called Rodeo, and he later scheduled the release date for March 2015. On January 27, 2015, Scott announced his tour, titled Rodeo, with an American rapper Young Thug and producer Metro Boomin as supporting acts.[2] On March 20, 2015, in an interview with MTV, Scott stated that he would not release the album unless Kid Cudi was featured on the album.[3]

In the CR Fashion Book, Scott stated his life was like a circus or rodeo and he feels like he is trying to stay on a bucking animal,[1] and it is inspired by rodeos he witnessed in Texas.[4] On April 2, 2015, Scott tweeted "Rodeo: The Album" on his twitter account.[5] In June 2015, Scott tweeted the production will be handled from Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital, WondaGurl, Allen Ritter, TM88, Southside, Mike Dean and Kanye West, among others.[6]

On June 3, 2015, producer Mike Dean tweeted, that the album would be released in a few days.[7] In an interview with Billboard, T.I., who's been in the studio with Scott, said Scott would release his album by the end of summer of 2015.[8] On June 26, 2015, in an interview with the Los Angeles Leakers, Scott said that the album would be released before August 2015, but didn't want to give an exact official release date. Scott later revealed on his twitter, stating that the album will be officially released on September 4, 2015.[9]

Release and promotion

On August 18, 2014, Scott released his second mixtape, titled Days Before Rodeo. It was first released as his mixtape, and then later Scott describes it as his free album. Days Before Rodeo features guest appearances from Young Thug, Big Sean, Rich Homie Quan, Migos, T.I., The 1975 and Peewee Longway, while the production was primary handled by Scott himself, along with Metro Boomin, DJ Dahi, WondaGurl, Southside and Lil' C, among others.

On January 28, 2015, while he was headlining his own Rodeo tour, Scott released two songs– including "High Fashion" featuring Future, and "Nothing But Net" featuring Young Thug and PartyNextDoor. The song "Drunk" featuring Young Thug, was leaked to the web on June 12, 2015, before the official release.[10]

Singles

On June 8, 2015, the album's first single, "3500" featuring the vocals from Future and 2 Chainz, was released.[11][12] On June 21, 2015, a song titled "Antidote" was released to promote the album. Due to the song's popularity, it was later recycled as the ninth track from the album and confirming it, as the album second single.
