Heather Marie Russell (born August 10, 2000) is a Canadian-born, LA-based singer-songwriter. She was signed to Syco Records at the age of 9 by Simon Cowell.[1] In 2013, she signed with managers Stirling McIlwaine & Andy Gould. Russell has written over a hundred songs including “Crazy Glue” which Jessica Sanchez, American Idol 2011 winner, covered on her debut EP. Heather is releasing her first EP in the fall of 2015 under her own label, BBox Entertainment.

Russell was born on August 10, 2000. She was born and raised in Toronto, Canada with her younger brother, Robin. Her parents, Monica Cidade and James Russell, are also musicians. She expressed that she wanted to be a singer/songwriter at the age of 5, when she taught herself how to play the piano and began to write songs.

Musical career

After one month on YouTube, her original song “Beautiful” garnered the attention of Rob Fusari, who then signed Russell to a production deal. Simon Cowell discovered Russell's video on YouTube and signed her to a recording and publishing contract under his label Syco Entertainment. Russell has made appearances on the Ellen Show, America's Got Talent, The Wendy Williams Show, The Voice Junior, Good Morning America, and CNN. Russell was offered three recording contracts in addition to Simon Cowell’s offer, ultimately signing with Cowell at Syco Entertainment and Rob Light at CAA.[2] At the age of 11, Russell worked with Grammy award-winning producers and writers Rob Fusari, Walter Afanasieff, Evan Bogart, Neffu, Smith Carlson, Onree Gill and Howard Benson. In 2013, Russell created her own label, BBox Incorporated. Russell's upcoming EP ‘Phases’ will be released in the fall of 2015.

Growing up, Russell was introduced to different genres of music including soul, R&B, pop, rock and jazz standards such as Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Queen, The Eagles, David Bowie, The Beatles, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, and Whitney Houston.

Russell is identified as a singer-songwriter. Her sound is predominantly pop/soul music.

Discography

Russell's single, "Got This Feeling" was released to iTunes[3] on July 24, 2015.
