- Comment: Disclaimer: I'm not a spanish speaker/reader, so I'm commenting instead of reviewing since Google Translate may have lost some of the nuances in the spanish articles. You might want to tighten up the article, and focus more on why the museum is notable; right now the article makes it clear that it exists, but not really why it is notable. The article from El Pais seems to be a great step in that direction, but most of the others seems to be about exhibitions at the museum or about Mario Testino. MATE - Museo Mario Testino (pronounced mAH-teh) is a non-profit institution founded in 2012 set up by Peruvian fashion photographer Mario Testino.[1]. It was initiated to contribute to Peru through the development and promotion of heritage and culture[2].
Testino restored a colonial, 13,000 sq. ft. mansion in Barranco, Lima[3] that was originally built in 1898 to create a museum that is home to permanent exhibition of Testino's work alongside a Temporary Exhibition Space for showcasing Peruvian and international art[4].
MATE is notable for being an establishment that contributes to Peru's cultural and artistic scene by providing a dynamic platform to launch projects both locally and internationally[5][6].
MATE's mission also includes educational programmes and supporting Peruvian artists abroad. MATE collaborates with the Delfina Foundation to run an artist-in-residence programme that annually invites a Peruvian artist to live and work in London for three months[7]. This programme supported Philippe Gruenberg in 2014[8] and José Vera Matos in 2015[9].
