Crim3s (formerly Story of Isaac) are an English electronic duo from London.[1][2] The group consists of a couple, producer Isaac and vocalist Sadie Phelps, who met while living in a warehouse in North London.[1][2] After being evicted on short notice, they were left homeless for a period of a year, and resorted to theft to survive.[2] They eventually landed some DJ sets at raves through friends.[2] They reportedly changed their name from Story of Isaac (the name under which Isaac released solo work prior to uniting with model Phelps) at the suggestion of Ethan Kath of Crystal Castles.[1] Isaac has also cited their former hard-knock life as an inspiration for their name: "Being chased by police and opening buildings to squat is a funny way to live. The harsh reality of life – not just for us, but the people we see around us every day – is what our music is about, and the reason why we're called CRIM3S."[2]

They debuted with a self-titled EP on Black Bus Records in 2011.[3][4] In 2013, they self-released a second EP, Stay Ugly.[2][5][6][7]
