  1. Inhabitants of India in Asia, sometimes called East Indians although that name should attach to those who live in the East Indies islands.
  2. Those aboriginal peoples of the Americas first misidentified by Christopher Columbus who thought that he had reached the East Indies. Sometimes called "Red Indians", the U.S. Indians now call themselves Native Americans; the Canadian ones First Nations. Living in a tribal structure where most tribes had different languages and culture as well as different kinship, many have the name of their tribe in their own native language, a word which just means "the people".
  3. A defunct motorcycle manufacturer.
