SITEX Corporation was founded in 1961 and is a provider of uniform and linen services, mats, mops, custom apparel, promotional items, screen-printing, embroidery, and restroom hygiene services in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Illinois.[1] SITEX is under the management of Wes and Jon Sights marking the third generation of Sight family members to operate in the laundry industry.[2]
Impact on Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky
SITEX Corporation has contributed to the local farming communities of Henderson, Kentucky and attends job creation events.[3][4] Starting in 2010, SITEX instituted a tobacco-free policy at its Henderson headquarters and all other facilities located throughout the state of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana.[5] The policy includes its vehicles, parking lots, and other properties owned by the organization.[5]
Jon Sights is the chair of the Western Kentucky Regional Industrial Development since its inception in 1998.[6] SITEX is frequently present at job fairs throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana.[7] In October 2014, U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield and state Representative Suzanne Miles used SITEX's location in Kentucky as one of their stops while on their bus tour around Kentucky.[8][9]
History
James and Gladys Sights of Henderson, Kentucky founded SITEX Corporation on January 1, 1961, known then as Industrial Uniform Services, Incorporated.[1][10] In December 1967, Industrial Uniform Services acquired a linen supply and dust control service Jasper Laundry & Cleaners of Jasper, Indiana. SITEX expanded into Paducah, Kentucky by acquiring Rental Uniform, Inc. in September 1974.[citation needed] With Rental Uniform, Inc. the organization reached into Southwest Kentucky, West Tennessee, Southeast Missouri, and Southern Illinois. During that same period, the Sights family established the operating name Sani-Clean Linen & Uniform Service as a "doing-business-as" (DBA)[11] for Industrial Uniform Service to reflect their expanded offerings.[12]
In August 1995, the Sights family decided to change the business and official name to SITEX Corporation, with "SITEX" being short for Sights Textiles.[13][14] In 1997, SITEX Corporation established a branch in Louisville, Kentucky and added embroidery services into the service mixture. Wilson Bo-Tie Embroidery, Inc. was merged into SITEX Corporation as SITEX Custom Apparel Department for embroidering several products, uniforms, dust mats, and linens.[citation needed]
SITEX acquired all the mat rental service accounts of H&S Mat Services in October 1998. H&S Mat Services provided mat rentals and maintenance to the south-central Kentucky region from one location in Bowling Green, Kentucky.[citation needed] In March 2001, SITEX acquired all the mat services of Lancelot Mat Service in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2003, SITEX worked with J.E. Shekell to build a 72,000 square foot laundry facility in Henderson, Kentucky.[15] Four years after the acquisition of Lancelot, SITEX purchased linen, uniform, and textile rental business from National Linen & Uniform Service.[citation needed] This acquisition, the largest in company history, expanded the number of routes of service by six, added 20 team members, and improved the marketshare. Hart's Rental Uniform Services, LLC became part of SITEX in December 2008[16] bringing in all of their uniform and textile accounts for the Lexington, Kentucky uniform service. In March 2011, SITEX acquired all the mat, linen, and uniform business of Clayton's Commercial Laundry of Evansville, Indiana.[citation needed]
