Aron Michael Ekberg (born 30 March 1991), better known as AronChupa, is a Swedish footballer, singer, rapper, songwriter, DJ, record producer and record label owner. He is a member of electro-hip hop group Albatraoz, formed in 2012. Aron is also a member of the football club Byttorps IF, playing in the Swedish fourth division.[2] Aron attended Academy of Art University from 2011 to 2013 and was a standout footballer for the Urban Knights before starting his music career (football bio). He gained prominence with his 2014 song "I'm an Albatraoz", which reached number 1 on the Swedish Singles Chart, reached number 1 in Denmark and reached the top ten in many charts across Europe. It also reached number 25 in the UK & number 10 in the US dance charts.

Career

Aron started his career as a footballer in the Swedish fourth division football club Byttorps IF. At the club he met Måns Harvidsson, Nicklas "Savo" Savolainen, Andreas "AndyBarMaskinen" Reinholdsson and Rasmus "Salle" Sahlberg and became friends. In 2012 they founded the electro-hip hop group Albatraoz and shortly after signed with Sony Music Sweden.[3] On 2 August 2013, was released their debut single, the self-titled "Albatraoz".[4] The song reached thirty-six on the Swedish Singles Chart and remained on the chart for nineteen weeks.[5] "Albatraoz" was certified gold in Sweden.[6] In January 2014 the song reached 8.5 million plays on Spotify and the group toured to promote the song.[7] On 18 April 2014 the group released their second single, "Arriba", but the song did not chart.[8]

On 8 August 2014 he released his debut solo single, "I'm an Albatraoz",[9] featuring the vocals of his sister Nora Ekberg.[10] The song was originally in a hip hop style, but a second version with electronic beats was chosen.[11] The song reached number one in Sweden and Denmark and the top 10 in Germany, Austria, Norway, Finland, Australia and the Netherlands. His second single dropped on 20 November 2015, titled "Fired Cuz I Was Late" is from his upcoming album. A third single titled "Little Swing" was released on 26 February 2016. The song features his sister again. This time, the song credits her as "Little Sis Nora".
