This article gave the wrong information with regards to employment authorization. As per the reference I included (https://secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211420#g1) an L2 visa holder does not require an EAD to be eligible to work. However, since employers are legally responsible for their employees, they will most likely not employ someone without an EAD. This makes the EAD recommended, but not legally required.
Furthermore the Social security agency issuing the SS card required by the employer must include the mention "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION."
