Sundar Menon (born Sundar Aditya Menon in Kerala, India) is an Indian business entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the founder and CEO of Sun Group International. Menon plays a role in numerous socio-economic initiatives within Kerala, and among the migrant workforce in the Middle East.
Early life and education
Menon spent his formative years in Kerala, India. His father, M.C.S Menon is the retired AGM & Principal of The South Indian Bank Staff Training College. Menon’s family consists of his wife Shyama, and two children.
Career
After graduating with an Economics degree, Menon began his career as a business executive with British Oil Field Services in Doha. Thirty years back,[when?] he founded the Sun Group International, a multi-national firm with operations in the UAE, Qatar, India & the Panama. The Sun Charitable Trust’s mission is identifying and supporting the underprivileged members of the society in areas of education, health, tribal and rural development and destitute rehabilitation. Menon is also a patron of the arts.
Awards and honours
Menon received the Padma Shri Award from the Government of India in 2016.[1] He was also recognised with an Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award in 2015,[2] an Indo British Business Excellence Award,[3] and named by Forbes magazine as amongst top Indian leaders in the GCC.[4]
