Colin James

Colin James Munn (born August 17, 1964 in Regina, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian singer, guitarist, and songwriter who plays in the blues and rock and Swing genres.

Early Years

James taught guitar lessons on a local Aboriginal reserve, and he was introduced to the Texas Blues of Stevie Ray Vaughan by his stepfather. James left high school in grade 10 and moved to Vancouver in 1980. He opened for Stevie Ray Vaughan for a show in Regina. Vaughan was impressed with Colin's performance and invited James to open for him for several tour dates in the USA.

Stevie Ray Vaughan gave Colin James his stage name, because Vaughan pointed out the the name "Colin Munn" tended to sound like "Colin Mud" in noisy venues. James has also toured with Keith Richards.

Colin James guest-starred in an episode of the television program "Corner Gas", a Canadian sitcom based in rural Saskatchewan, in February 2005. The show's theme song, "Not A Lot Going On," was written and performed by Craig Northey and Jesse Valenzuela—and Northey is a member of James's band.

Discography

James has released nine studio albums, one hits compilation CD, and a number of singles.
