What Remains of Edith Finch is an upcoming first-person narrative adventure video game for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and PlayStation 4. The developers are Giant Sparrow, who previously released The Unfinished Swan on PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. The game will be published by Annapurna Interactive.
Development
What Remains of Edith Finch is the second game developed by the team at Giant Sparrow, with their debut effort being the BAFTA-award winning The Unfinished Swan. The game was first announced with an on-stage trailer at the 2014 PlayStation Experience event as a title to be published by SCE Santa Monica Studio[1], with a subsequent trailer released prior to E3 2015.[2] What Remains of Edith Finch resurfaced again with a new on-stage trailer at the 2016 PlayStation Experience event with a new publisher, Annapurna Interactive.[3][4]
Gameplay
As Edith, players travel back to the Finch family home in Washington to explore her ancestral history after recent family events drive her to learn more herself and the Finches. Edith explores the house through regular doors and secret passageways, as well as the individual rooms of deceased family members that have been preserved like frozen moments in time. Players will experience varied stories related to particular family members, with thematic and gameplay elements that change from story to story.[5]
Soundtrack
Composer Jeff Russo, whose previous works include the soundtracks to the Fargo TV series, The Night Of, and Power, is creating the soundtrack for What Remains of Edith Finch.[6]
