Plot

SpongeBob is dreaming that it is raining Krabby patties, then he gets up to eat a sea-nut butter and jellyfish jelly sandwich, but then he falls asleep. But, he forgot to close the fridge. When he closed the fridge and found out that everything was frozen (even the fire), everything is frozen except for him and Gary. Then, he finds out that he has the suds (an underwater flu). Instead of sneezing, bubbles are coming out of his holes. He says that he's not sick and tries to go to work, but Mr. Krabs says that he's too sick. He is excused. The suds get worse when he gets back home. So, he calls Sandy and asks her to take him to the doctor. Then Patrick comes over and asks him if he is going skiing. He says that he is sick and he is going to the doctor. Patrick says that the doctor is a horrible place. SpongeBob is terrified of going to the doctor, and changes his mind about it. Patrick becomes SpongeBob's doctor and puts corks all over his holes so bubbles won't come out. Then SpongeBob says that his treatment is working and then calls Sandy and tell her not to come. But a little while later, Sandy arrives and Patrick says that SpongeBob is fine and doesn't need to go to the doctor. But SpongeBob becomes so sick he kills all the birds. SpongeBob (who is a ball now) is rolling toward the Krusty Krab and the bubbles get higher and higher and the corks come off and tear down the Krusty Krab. Then he goes to the doctor and the doctorfish asks SpongeBob if he is ready for his treatment, and a human named Hans grabs him and gives him a special treatment which included: rubbing as man's hairy back etc. When he is finished, Hans gives SpongeBob a giant lollipop. Patrick is jealous of SpongeBob's lollipop and takes a bubble wand out of his pocket and blows a bubble then quickly puts it back. Then, he says that he has the suds then the doctorfish says that they have a very special treatment for him. Then, Hans takes Patrick and gives him a bad treatment which was being rubbed against a cactus and scrubbing a toilet.

Trivia/Goofs

  • The fridge was left open, freezing SpongeBob's entire pineapple house. However, this would actually heat the house, as the heat removed from the inside of the refrigerator is released out the back, along with the extra heat from the motor.
  • Many people think the suds are a spoof or an underwater version of the common cold, as coined by SpongeBob himself in the episode, but series creator Stephen Hillenburg has reportedly said it is actually an underwater version of the flu.
  • The music we hear throughout the episode is Tchaikovsky's "Dance of The Sugar-Plum Fairy" from "The Nutcracker."
  • This is so far the second episode Gary the Snail appears in the Krusty Krab. He also appeared in Culture Shock.
  • This is the third of eleven episodes in which the Krusty Krab is destroyed.
  • When Sandy tells SpongeBob to open his mouth to prove he's unwell and his breath smells bad, it goes to Patrick who has a closepin on his face where his nose might be. But in the episode "Something Smells" Patrick seemed to have no problem with SpongeBob's bad breath caused by the peanut-onion sundae.
  • Sandy pushing Spongebob around is a referance to Katamari.
