Excite Truck is a video game currently in development by Nintendo for the Wii video game system. It features deformable environments and tilt based controls.

It was expected to be released globally in the first quarter of 2007[1], but was recently announced to be a Wii launch Title.[1]

Controls

Excite Truck will not use the Nunchuk attachment, it will be controlled entirely with the Wii Remote. To control the game, the player must hold the Wii Remote in their hands horizontally, similar to the way they would hold a NES controller. Steering is done by actually tilting the Wii Remote from side to side. Acceleration and braking is done by pushing the 1 and 2 buttons, and to land major jumps, the player has to tilt the Wii Remote so that all four wheels will land parallel. The directional pad will be used for turbo boosts. In a nod to Excitebike, the trucks can overheat and temporarily be forced to stop. Excite Truck will also include a multiplayer mode, and quite possibly, be able to be played on Nintendo Wi-fi Connection. It will be compatible with Ubisoft's " Wii Wheel" attachment.

Miscellaneous

  • At E3 2006, Reggie Fils-Aime described it as being in the same "pedigree" as Excitebike, except you are controlling a "big damn truck". You also have split screen multiplayer gaming.
