Quasar & the Star Brand
I see we have a bit of tug of war here, as the "Other Powers" section continues to be edited to indicate that Quasar still possesses the Star Brand powers. That definitely goes against both the explicit and implicit evidence provided in the Quasar series, and suggesting that we should continue to pressume Quasar is invulnerable until we actually see him mashed to a pulp seems like tenuous logic at best. --Steveg99
- Why not? Other SB holders continued to have the "resurrection" ability even after losing all their other powers. Thanos6 11:01, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
- It's true the Old Man retained some Star Brand energy, giving about a tenth of the full power, but was that actually demonstrated to be a universal trait? There's evidence this is not the case with Quasar, whose circumstances were certainly quite unique. Certainly the previously mentioned close shave with death in space when the Brand's energy ran out should be pretty compelling. Also, when the Living Tribunal showed up at the end of the StarBlast series intent on preventing the brand's alien energy from contaminating the universe, he stated that Quasar didn't warrant quarantine because the residual brand energy remaining in him was an insignificant trace amount. (I mentioned this stuff previously)

- Well, if the star brand only has enough juice to resurrect quasar upon death, that may very well qualify as insignificant to the tribunal. We are talking about a formerly unimagineable source of transferable power when he was worried about it. if quasar's brand only has enough power to heal, resurrect, or otherwise serve as a deus ex machina, i can imagine that's below the concern of one of the top guys on the cosmic totem poles. Not that I think a big deal should be made out of this in the power's section, but I can easy see the starbrand being used again if quasar appears to die (as he recently has) Impulse 04:22, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Better image available?
Might anyone be able to upload a better picture of Quaze? Not only is his hair in front of his eyes, but it looks like his cape is so ridiculously long that he has to hold it up off the ground. In actuality, that image is scanned from a panel where Quasar is donning his latest and final costume, and he's holding the old cape in his hand.
Major Quasar fan here
Glad to see Quasar has an existing article with a biography. I added "Powers & Abilities" section. I also edited the summary and biography to provide some essential details that will help a reader understand the type of hero Mark Gruenwald was trying to portray. I see Thanos6 has already added a bit of extra detail to the bottom of the Power & Abilities section. I'm uncertain about its accuracy. I was unaware that Quasar's exposure to the Star Brand continued to have any effect on him after the Living Tribunal sealed off all traces of it. In fact, in Quasar #48, Quasar goes into outer space to retrieve his q-bands, and almost suffocates when the Star Brand energy runs out (he's saved by an Elder of the Universe called The Caregiver). Also, although Quasar has managed to return from the dead a couple of times, I don't think he's truly immortal. Then again, it seems Quasar's made some appearances in comics over the last few years that I'm not aware (I thought he was still exiled with the Ego-essence in him). Can Thanos6 or anyone else clarify this?.--steveg99
- OK, let me address these points one by one:
- After the LT seals off the NU Earth, Quaze specifically asks the LT if he shouldn't be sealed off as well, since he still has a tiny bit of the Starbrand in him. The LT says that it's so small, it won't matter. However, we saw in the NU books that anyone who ever had the Star Brand, even if they get rid of it, will still be immortal even after they get rid of it due to the trace of the Starbrand inside them. They can still die, but they come back. In fact, that's how Quasar DID come back from the dead the second time, after the Magus blasted him with the Ultimate Nullifier.
- As for appearing lately; he showed up in the Fantastic Four story when Johnny Storm became the Herald of Galactus. He also showed up in the final issue of the "Titannus" storyline in the new volume of Marvel Team-Up. In both cases, he spent time on Earth without mention of Ego or his need to be off-planet, so presumably he managed to get rid of Ego somehow. Does that help? Thanos6 08:54, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update on recent events in Quasar's life. Regarding the Star Brand, it's true that it did in some manner help Quasar return from the realm of oblivion (although it seemed that Eon's "waiting room" and the Marvel Boy duplicate taking Quasar's place in oblivion played a role as well), that was all before the LT brought the hammer down on the Star Brand energy (which occurred as part of the conclusion of the Star Blast series as well as the set-wrap on Quasar). In between the two events, Mark Gruenwald demonstrated that the energy had been depleted in any useful sense by having Quaze almost perish in space when it ran out. True, the LT mentioned that Quasar is still contaminated by it, but he also stated it was an insignificant trace amount. I think if the energy was sufficient to grant effective immortality, that would be considered significant. Looks like somebody else has already taken the initiative and edited the Star Brand powers entry.
SHB pic
The Dell'Otto A:Nova #3 cover is hopelessly wrong with the colour scheme. Something went very awry somewhere, because the costume is red & navy on the inside of the comic, not orange and green.
Also, his hair is closer to it's traditional length on the inside. It's certainly not the short-back-and-sides of the cover. - SoM 01:31, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- I also have to say that the picture is better used in the Powers section, considering it's a picture of him using the Quantum Bands. The SHB pic should stay as it is. Kusonaga 06:57, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Not really representative though - it shows him using the bands for generic energy blasts, whereas he uses the teleport and GL-esque contructs far more commonly. - SoM 07:07, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe I'll put up a picture from the Quasar run one of these days. Just need to scan and find it. Kusonaga 13:38, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
