Wikipedia is not a paper book, however many users feel that it should be limited in scope to whatever they deem notable. That is foolish and somewhat scary (imagine if the Internet in general had censors with deletion capabilities!). This website should exploit the great advantage of electronic media and not exclude any article unless it provokes violence or harm toward others. Links to unpopular articles should be limited, but the articles themselves should not. My hope is that people will start to create as opposed to delete. There is too much good to create to waste so much time on deleting!
The wiki is a brilliant concept, but for it to truly work, all participants must leave their bias at home, which may be too much to ask. The rules that promote censorship (deleting articles, 3RR) are a blight to the website and should be reconsidered.

Thanks for the evaluation. I've tried everything, including exercise and dieting before, but I suspect I know the problem - I never paid attention to my BMR and caloric intake. I ate good foods and very balanced meals for periods of time, but I definitely have eaten too much of it. I need to reduce caloric intake. Thanks for calculating my BMR - it will help. - John

Recently Wmahan has continued his crusade to remove spam from WP and has taken off some quality links (Talk:Basal_metabolic_rate#External_link, Talk:Logo#Removed_link) simply because I, a contributor to the links, added the external links or re-added them after someone else inserted them in the first place. My argument: let the link speak for itself-- if the link is not valuable, take it off, but if it is valuable, don't let the fact that a person affiliated with the link posted it, that is an abstraction and a blanket regulation that reminds me of the phrase, "throwing out the baby with the bath water." I would rather each external link be viewed for its merit, not who posted it.
Note: this has become a gargantuan expenditure of precious time, which I don't have. I only proceed for the principle.
