Is Rahzar really a wolf? He looks more fox-like

Why was it necessary for Perry to alter the mutagen to make them infantlike? The first movie shows that when the baby turtles were mutated, they started out infantlike too. Depending on whether or not Perry really was an Utrom, he may or may not have known that, but nevertheless... Rahzar was clearly a young wolf before and after his mutation (or hell, maybe a fox, I dunno) and even if Tokka was an adult turtle (they mature pretty slowly) it'd still take quite a while for intelligence to occur.

Tokka and Rahzar are product of excellorated mutation. Rahzar was really a wolf...altho' it would appear to interestingly exaggerated compared to more traditional designs I've seen say of werewolves. I do see the "Fox" connection as his fur takes on a reddish hue. The mutagen Perry used on the creatures was tainted and served to poison their mutation. This was done to reduce the threat they would have posed had the excelloration of the mutating process had proceeded without the poison. Though it created issues with their intelligence. In the movie they remained brutish but entirely devoted to Shredder (their surrogate mother ). While the characters may not have been babies in their non-mutant form. They were still quite young in the animal forms. As mutants... they really were babies. At least in the movies. The animated versions were much more coherent with little connection to Shredder other than the fact that it is stated that Saki left some mutagen in the Zoo which apparently created Tokka and Rahzar in the Toon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TOkKa (talk • contribs) 17:19, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

Anyone got an idea of how their names came into being? As the Turtles are named after renaissance artists, Bebop & Rocksteady after styles of music, the punk-frogs after historical conquerors, Casey Jones perhaps after a real-life hero and Shredder and Splinter being words which have a somewhat related meaning to each other I just wondered if this pair could have a hidden meaning behind it's name, especially since most other (mutant) characters in the universe tend to have names composed of normal English words refering either to their appearance or beahviour e.g. Leatherhead or the Rat King. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.230.181.194 (talk) 05:52, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That is a great question. If anyone wants to dig through the wayback machine on ninjaturtles.com back when it was Peter Laird's personal blog with extensive behind the scenes information, old designs, etc... the answer might be there. As far as I can tell, Tokka means either "specialization" or "to specialize" so perhaps Shredder had high hopes that his own turtle would... be skilled in some specific way? and Rahzar is just a mess of a name, given that it's not even pronounced consistently, and its spelling (which obviously means nothing since nobody would ever have written it down, least of all Shredder) seems to be more in line with April's pronunciation of rah-zar... but Shredder clearly said "REIZAA" indicating he may have just meant to be 'razor', an appropriate appellation for a guy who walks around wearing an entire Ginzu set on his armor, to his new clawed and fanged pet.
