Pilot period (2017-2018)

During the pilot period, Jeffery Guin reached out to Andrew Lih to explore the potential for collaboration between Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and Wikipedia.

GLAM Café Philadelphia

Come to the GLAM Café held the second Tuesday of each month from 5-8 p.m. See schedule for dates and locations.

Objectives

Expansion of content and support of authoritative sources

Improve Wikipedia's coverage of people and topics relating to the history of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, particularly Miami, History, and topics relevant to the Gilded Age. This work includes editing existing pages, providing access to sources for citations on existing pages, and creating new pages about notable people and topics.

Media contribution to Wikimedia Commons

Donate content, particularly images from the Vizcaya archives on topics such as Art, to Wikimedia Commons. These images may then be utilized by educators and researchers worldwide.

Outreach

Empower Foundation staff and members of the broader digital humanities community to engage with Wikipedia and develop skills and confidence as Wikipedia contributors. Promote opportunities for new relationships and connections within the libraries, archives, and museum communities.
