Adena T. Friedman (born 1969) currently serves as the President and CEO of Nasdaq.[1] She was formerly the managing director and CFO of The Carlyle Group. In May 2014, it was announced that Friedman would return to NASDAQ OMX as the president of global corporate and information technology solutions.[2] In November 2016, she was named the CEO of NASDAQ.[3]
Biography
Born Adena Robinson Testa and raised in metropolitan Baltimore, she is the daughter of Michael D. Testa, a managing director at T. Rowe Price, and Adena W. Testa, an attorney in the Baltimore law firm of Stewart, Plant & Blumenthal.[4] She attended Roland Park Country School. She earned a BA in political science from Williams College and an MBA from Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management.[4]
As of 2017, she is listed as the 31st most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.[5] Friedman became CEO on January 1, 2017 of the Nasdaq [6] making her the first woman to lead a global exchange company. [7]
Personal life
In 1993, she married Michael Cameron Friedman in a Presbyterian ceremony in Hanover, New Hampshire.[4] They have two sons.[8] She is a black belt in taekwondo.[6]
