A tag has been placed on User:Faye Jillian Henning/sandbox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Wikipedia and copyright

Writing about yourself

You are welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, but it is not a social media site like Facebook or LinkedIn for people to write about themselves. It is a quite different sort of site, a project to build an encyclopedia, so it is selective about subjects for articles. Writing about oneself is strongly discouraged, for reasons explained at Wikipedia is not about YOU and Wikipedia:Autobiography.

Wikipedia user pages are not like those at social networking sites. Their use is explained at WP:NOTWEBHOST:

"Wikipedians have individual user pages, but they should be used primarily to present information relevant to work on the encyclopedia. Limited autobiographical information is allowed, but user pages do not serve as personal webpages, blogs, or repositories for large amounts of material irrelevant to collaborating on Wikipedia. If you want to post your résumé or make a personal webpage, please use one of the many free providers on the Internet or any hosting included with your Internet account. The focus of user pages should not be social networking or amusement, but rather providing a foundation for effective collaboration. Humorous pages that refer to Wikipedia in some way may be created in an appropriate namespace. Personal web pages are often speedily deleted."

I am Faye Jillian Reagan. I'm sorry for removing the deletion tag. I just wanted to tell you that I am a real actress. I had proof. I'm meant to be on the English Wikipedia, you know. I'm American. Please, can you re-create the page for me, in your own words. If you do, please protect it from vandalism. I gave you some true proof that I'm an actress, but every celebrity should be on Wikipedia! I see that this account has been blocked for abusing multiple accounts. Nevertheless, I will address a few of the comments you made above.

1. "...every celebrity should be on Wikipedia...": If you mean that celebrity = notable person, then yes, they can have a Wikipedia article. But it's what makes a person notable that counts. Actors, including adult film actors, have to meet certain notability criteria to be considered worthy of inclusion.
2. "I gave you some true proof": You cited the IMDb, which on Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source. This is because the IMDb consists largely of user-submitted content. We expect articles to be supported by reliable third-party sources, with an established reputation for fact-checking and editorial oversight. Better sources than the IMDb are required to form the basis of an article.
3. "I'm meant to be on the English Wikipedia": Why? Because you want to be? As mentioned above, you must be notable as Wikipedia defines it before you can have an article. And you should never write about yourself, for reasons explained at Wikipedia is not about YOU and Wikipedia:Autobiography. It's reasonable for other editors to expect that you aren't able to judge your own notability or write about yourself objectively, which is why we don't like people writing about themselves. Too often, self-authored articles are too praiseworthy, contain unverifiable firsthand knowledge, and appear as little more than self-promotion.
4. "please protect it from vandalism": True vandalism is almost always detected and corrected promptly. But if you mean "protect it so it remains at a version I like", then no. No one owns or has editorial control over an article. If an article about you appears, and includes negative information about you that is reliable sourced and neutrally written, then it's fair game. That's why we say that an article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing.

I advise you to discontinue your campaign to be on Wikipedia. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy on biographies of living persons, someone else will eventually write an article about you. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:38, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
