In the late summer of 2005, Wiik was a contestant in a Norwegian talent search TV show, Filmstjerne (English translation: “Movie Star”). Wiik was voted out by the judges after round 1.

In 2007, Wiik appeared in the thriller, Timber Falls, directed by Tony Giglio, playing the role of James.[2]

In January 2016, Wiik announced that he would star as the lead role in the planned Morgan Kane films, but later failed his audition. [3] [4] [5] [6][7]

Wiik is best known for co-founding WR Entertainment in September 2009 with six other founders James F. Cardwell, Duane M. Eberlein, Alan E. Bell, Michael Joseph Smith, Øyvind Holm-Johnsen and Steinar Larsen. [8]

On May 9, 2011, Daily Variety broke a story that WR Films had acquired the motion-picture rights to all 83 novels in the best-selling Morgan Kane series, which had sold more than 20 million books to date.[9] [10]

In 2015, WR Films Entertainment Group, Inc. became acquired by Norwegian parent company WR Entertainment ASA, where Wiik was Vice Chairman of the board of directors. On January 13, 2016 the company became a publicly traded company on the Oslo Stock Exchange Merkur Market. [11]

In March 2016 it was known that several high-profile investors, including airline magnate Bjørn Kjos, had acquired a significant stake in WR by providing NOK 30 million in fresh operating capital to the company.[12] [13]

In December 2016, a group of shareholders wanted both Wiik and Chairman James F. Cardwell out of the company, but instead of challenging the shareholders at a EGM Wiik resigned from all corporate positions in WR. Investor Jan Henry Løken explains how this whole shareholder rebellion went down in VG's documentary "The ballad of Morgan Kane". Wiik stated in a press release that he resigned because of "creative differences". Cardwell was later voted out by the shareholders at a EGM. [14][15] [16]

In March 2017 Wiik filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against WR's CEO, Tasmin Lucia Khan. The suit, including allegations of defamation and sexual manipulation, made international headlines. Wiik claimed that Lucia-Khan spread rumors about Wiik offering prostitutes to investors.[17][18] Khan filed a series of motion to quash service and a anti-SLAPP motion against Wiik. In the anti-SLAPP, one of WR's largest investors Jonny Martinsen states in his testimony that he was offered to sleep with Wiik's assistant as a gift.[19][20][21][22]

In June 2017 WR Entertainment filed a suit against Wiik for multiple counts of fraud, misrepresentation, breach of fiduciary duty, conversion, breach of contract and unjust enrichment. Wiik filed a cross-complaint with multiple claims of contract breaches and fraud. [23][24][25]

In July 2017 WR Entertainment obtained an injunction from Oslo District Court to freeze 18.7 Million of shares in Wiik's name, pending outcome of WR's fraud claim filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.[26][27][28] Wiik appealed Oslo District Court's decision at a two day oral hearing, but lost his appeal. Wiik appealed for the second time to the Norwegian Court of Appeal.[29][30][31][32][33] On December 1, 2017 Wiik lost his appeal for the second time. The Norwegian Court of Appeal uphelds the injunction where 18.7 Million of Wiik's shares will be frozen until Los Angeles Superior Court has made their ruling. The Norwegian Court of Appeal uphelds the injunction where 18.7 Million of Wiik's shares will be frozen until Los Angeles Superior Court has made their ruling. [36] [37]

In Desember 2017 Ryan Wiik reported a shareholder to the police for reckless behavior. The named shareholder has used media articles to make parody and satire pictures of Wiik. [38] [39]
