  • Comment: Since HK feels that the topic has potential, I'm accepting it.Improvements could be executed later. ~ Winged BladesGodric 08:54, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
  • Comment: 12,000 employees, and operations in nearly 120 countries And part of a DOW 30 company? What high bar does a company need to pass ro be considered notable at AfC? This should be accepted Legacypac (talk) 05:27, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

  • @Winged Blades of Godric: Should be declined on WP:PROMO grounds: "Template:Tq is only for quoting in talk and project pages. Do not use it in actual articles." Etc. Wikipedia is not a hosting service for corporate marketing materials. K.e.coffman (talk) 02:37, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
  • @Winged Blades of Godric: I think it needs more third party references and the language needs to be less "promotional" (as per K.e.coffman) and more factual with a clear indication of why the company is notable. I believe the topic is notable and meets the required criteria. It gets talked about in a number of intellectually independent books such as Electronic Commerce 2018 and The Escape Industry. It also gets mentioned in various media as one of the four big corporate agencies. HighKing++ 20:28, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

History

American Express first established a Travel Division in 1915 and soon established its first travel agencies.[1]

In March 2014, American Express announced that it signed an agreement to create a joint venture for Global Business Travel , under which American Express would share ownership of the joint venture with an investor group led by Certares. Under the agreement, American Express would separate its GBT operations into a dedicated holding structure, including assets and liabilities that comprise GBT, and, upon the agreement’s close, would maintain 50% ownership in the joint venture. In exchange, the investor group would hold 50% for a $900 million investment in the joint venture .[2]

On July 1, 2014, American Express announced it closed the joint venture under the terms and conditions outlined in March .[3]
