Pam Ferris
Pam Ferris (born 1948) is an English actress. She was born in Hannover, Lower Saxony, West Germany and was raised in Wales until her family emigrated to New Zealand when she was 13. Ferris returned to the UK in her early twenties. In 1986 she married actor Roger Frost.
Ferris is best known for her role as Ma Larkin in the comedy series The Darling Buds of May (1991-93).
She has however also acted in a succession of television dramas, including:
- Hardwicke House,
- Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit,
- Paradise Heights,
- Where The Heart Is and
- Rosemary & Thyme.
Her roles in costume dramas include parts in television adaptations of:
Ferris's film roles include Agatha Trunchbull in Matilda, Tommy Cotter in Death to Smoochy and Aunt Marge in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Her career in the theatre has included parts in Royal Court Theatre and Royal National Theatre productions.
In recent television she plays Laura Thyme in the ITV tv show Rosemary & Thyme.
Pam Ferris is also very well known for playing the character of Peggy Snow in ITV1's Where The Heart Is.
