Nine Percent is a nine-member Chinese boy group formed by the survival show Idol Producer by iQiyi in 2018. They officially debuted on April 6, 2018.
History
Pre-debut: Idol Producer
Idol Producer was first aired on the online platform, iQiyi from January 19 to April 6 2018, with 100 trainees from 31 different entertainment companies and talent agencies, including individual trainees who aren't associated with any agencies. The group consists of Cai Xukun (individual trainee)[1] as its center (with a total of 47,640,887 votes), Chen Linong (A Legend Star Entertainment)[2], Fan Chengcheng (Yuehua Entertainment)[3], Justin (Yuehua Entertainment)[4], Lin Yanjun (Banana Entertainment)[5], Zhu Zhengting (Yuehua Entertainment)[6], Wang Ziyi (Simply Joy Music)[7], Xiao Gui (Gramarie Entertainment)[8] and You Zhangjing (Banana Entertainment)[9] who ranked 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th respectively in the final episode.
Debut
After their debut, they were then sent to Los Angeles for further training for half-a-month. Rodney Jerkins, Christopher Scott were two of their mentors, and they would debut with the 8 original songs in the second half of the competition.[10] From 5 to 6 May 2018, they had their first official performance at Mercedes-Benz Arena (Shanghai) for the "THX with LOVE" fan meet, performing few of the songs featured in the show. They have taken part in advertisements including Mercedes, 'I Do' and Pop Moe. They are also the face of Innisfree,[11].The group were featured in the Martial Arts Gaiden official mobile game[12] the beta version of the game along with the CF was released on June 1, 2018 and was presented by the whole group.
The group released the first episode of their reality show on iQiyi's personal website, the show shows another side of the boys as they face their lives in the spotlight of China's idol scene. The first episode shows them in LA.
