Pondok Indah is an upper-class housing estate located in South Jakarta, Indonesia. Residents are generally expatriates, but wealthy Indonesians are also present. The average salary for residents is US$357,200 annually, plus benefits. [citation needed] Many mansions in the area comprise 3 to 5 floors with designated quarters for household staff. Swimming pools are common in the area. Most children in the region attend Jakarta International School. Younger children are commonly accompanied to school by their nannies.

Residents in Pondok Indah generally have household staff provided by their employer or from an agency. This could include a maid, chauffer, jaga (security guard) and a nanny to assist younger children.

Shopping and Entertainment

A local shopping complex, Pondok Indah Mall caters to residents of this area. The complex consists of a five-floor shopping mall, 21-screen cinema, four multi-floor department stores and nearly 400 specialty shops, including restaurants. Security at the mall includes vehicle and bag inspections.
