ieDigital – formerly Intelligent Environments Europe Ltd – is a leading[2] British provider of software, based in Kingston upon Thames, London. It provides front-end technology for financial services organisations and their customers.

The company's current flagship product is Interact, a digital platform for financial services.

History

Intelligent Environments was founded in 1985 with the sole purpose of serving the Financial Services sector, and has been a specialist provider of digital software to the financial services marketplace since 1998.

Intelligent Environments was listed on the stock market until 2012 when it was acquired by a private company.

In May 2018, Intelligent Environments announced it would be rebranding as ieDigital[3].

Management

ieDigital's key senior staff members are led by Managing Director Jeremy Young, alongside a board of executive and non-executive directors.[4]

Products and services

Application Manager and NetFinance

Intelligent Environments was originally best known for producing a client/server development tool called Application Manager (AM) for OS/2 and later for Windows (the Windows version was funded by a loan from Microsoft). AM was widely used by financial institutions worldwide as a client/server development tool for in-house development.

The iteration following on from Application Manager was NetFinance.

Interact

Intelligent Environments now produces an application, account management, and administration product suite built using Microsoft .NET and C Sharp technology and operates using a single product platform.

This omni-channel front end software is called Interact.

The platform integrates into existing online banking systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, call centre databases, workflow and back-office systems. It is built using a responsive web design so can be used across several digital channels such as mobile phones, tablets and PCs. Dedicated apps for Android and iOS complement the web-based interface.

Initiatives and innovations

Emoji Passcode

In June 2015, Intelligent Environments released new software for logging into banking apps. Emoji Passcode lets users log into their app without the need for a traditional password.[5]

The Smartwatch Bank

In November 2013, Intelligent Environments developed technology specifically designed for the Pebble Watch.[6] The company designed and built an application that permits the wearer to receive notifications of their finances through their watch.[7]

ZappTheTab

Intelligent Environments participated in 2014's ZappHack #ReviveRetail, a hackathon sponsored by mobile payments company Zapp, where several technology companies spent 36 hours attempting to create a new app using Zapp technology.

Intelligent Environments placed second behind Sagepay, after creating an app 'ZappTheTab' which combined iBeacon technology with Zapp to enable a whole restaurant table to order through their mobile devices at the same time, which it said could help solve potentially awkward shared bill payments.[8]

FinovateEurope 2015

On 10 February 2015, Intelligent Environments participated in the annual FinovateEurope conference, where they demonstrated their attack-aware security software, AppSensorFS.[9]

Clients and Partners

Clients

Intelligent Environments provides operational services to financial institutions, retailers, and telecoms providers, including Lloyds Banking Group, HSBC and The Home Retail Group.[citation needed]

Partners

Intelligent Environments traditionally partners with larger companies who operate in the same financial services field. They are normally companies who provide back office processing systems that can integrate with the company's front end platform. Current partners include: Avanade,[10] FIS, First Data and Unisys.
