Portugal EEZ map
[edit]I see that you have uploaded the Portugal EEZ map. It seems that it is part of a bigger map of the EEZ of all countries. Do you have other such images, e.g. showing the EEZ of more countries - not only these that are visible on the Portugal map? See the Talk:Exclusive Economic Zone page. Also similar maps showing territorial waters and continental shelf claims would be a nice addition. Alinor 19:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi Alinor, Please take a look on European Union Member states EEZ. Luis wiki 23:52, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Portugal EEZ.PNG
[edit]Hi, your copyright tag for this image indicates it is your own work, although it looks like a screen cap from here. Do you own the website? As it is tagged to be moved to the Commons I think it is best to have details on it. Thanks. - J Logan t: 16:29, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, the image is based on a Screen cap from VLIZ Maritime Boundaries Geodatabase (http://w2.vliz.be/vmdcdata/marbound/geointerface.php), with minor color changes. Added this information in the description. Thanks. Luis wiki 16:59, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi JLogan, I understand that VLIZ Maritime Boundaries Geodatabase is an Open-Source project: From http://www.vliz.be/vmdcdata/marbound/index.php: "are considering the database as an Open-Source project". Do you share the same understanding? Luis wiki 23:50, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Okay thanks. That's obviously their intention. However if you have time you might want to email them to check, I know plenty of places who say their stuff is free but when you ask the two fundamental points, can it be used commercially and can it be modified, they suddenly say no. Thanks again. - J Logan t: 06:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Image:European Union Exclusive Economic Zones.PNG
[edit]Hello Luís wiki. Regarding the image you uploaded of the European Union Exclusive Economic Zones, I believe there could be a slight error: The area, not coloured, north of the Britihs Isles, pertaining to the EEZ of the Faroe Islands (an Autonomous province of the Kingdom of Denmark) should most probably be painted in the same colour as Denmark(?). What do you think? The Ogre 18:26, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ah! Forget it: "As explicitly asserted by both Rome treaties, the Faroe Islands are not part of the European Union." The Ogre 18:32, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Hello The Ogre. I had the same question myself! I decided not to color the Faroe Islands EEZ exactly because I checked in Special member state territories and the European Union that the Faroe Islands are not part of the European Union, as you mention. The same criteria applies to the not colored Greenland EEZ (a self-governed Danish territory) partially shown in the upper left corner of the map. More, as far as I could understand, the Faroe Islands and the Greenland relationship with the EU are not exactly the same. So, it's not so easy.
It should be colored? I think it really depends on the context where the imaged is used. Maybe a foot legend could be added. If you think it should be changed, it can be done. And what about Greenland?
I am open minded to all the modifications that contribute to a more accurate information on Wikipedia. Thank you. Luis wiki 20:10, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Image permission problem with Image:Great_circle_land.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Great_circle_land.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invitation from Wikimedia Portugal
[edit](English below)
Agradecemos desde já!
Hi! Wikimedia Portugal is the Portuguese chapter of Wikimedia, founded in 2009 and recognized by the Wikimedia Foundation. Our mission is to contribute to the general dissemination of knowledge and culture through the incentive to the collection and creation of content without restrictions on use, modification and distribution, and promote their difusion; we promote and support the Wikimedia Foundation projects, among which Wikipedia, with emphasis on projects in Portuguese and Mirandese.
We would like however to count on the support of (and in turn ourselves support) all volunteers that are citizens, resident, or simply interested in Portugal. Despite being founded in 2009, the chapter has gone through a long period of inactivity that we are trying to overcome. We have sent you this message to invite you, if you are interested, to enroll as associate to the chapter, demonstrate your support to the existence of a chapter in Portugal, and get involved in the discussion of future activities by registering in the mailing list. Recentely, the Wikimedia Affiliations Committee suspended support to Wikimedia Portugal pending, among other things, the support from the community of portuguese editors.
