Toast Time is an arcade-action shoot-em-up developed by United Kingdom-based indie developer studio Force Of Habit. The game was self-published in 2013/2014 for mobile devices and personal computers.

Gameplay

Toast Time is a single-screen arcade/action arena shoot-em-up, with tower-defence elements and physics puzzles mixed in, in which players are tasked with defending an alarm clock by firing bread and breakfast-based items from the protagonist, TERRY the toaster.[1][2]

Development and release

Toast Time was in development since Force Of Habit began in September 2012..[3] It was originally released exclusively for Android[4], and was later ported and released to iOS[5] as well as to Windows, macOS and Linux through Steam[6]

Reception

Toast Time was praised at launch for its mechanics, British humour, charm/style, and its soundtrack.

Chris Carter from TouchArcade said "Some games just click the moment you boot them up. They ooze charm at every turn, forcing you to pay attention and stay glued to the screen. It's pure gaming bliss.", giving the game a score of 5/5.[5] Mike Rose from Pocket Gamer said "From its gorgeous pixellated backdrops, to the bouncy music and the funny one-liners, Toast Time is one of the more stylish games you can pick up for mobile", but also noted "It's a little too hectic for its own good at times", and gave it a 7/10.[1]

Toast Time won multiple awards including 'Best New IP' from TIGA.[8] in 2013 and 'Best Art Design' from Intel Level Up in 2014.[9]
