Mordhau is an upcoming multiplayer medieval hack 'n slash[1][2][3] with a prominent aspect of skill-based competitive play and customization. It features a combat system emphasizing Hand-to-hand combat, loosely based on historical techniques such as feints, redirection, and alternative use of weapons. It will also feature ranged weapons, siege engines and mounted combat.[citation needed]

The game was partially financed through a Kickstarter campaign which raised nearly $300,000.[4][5]

Development

Mordhau is developed by Triternion, and is planned to release to Steam in 2019.[6]

Key focal points about the game include:

  • Freedom of choice: the ability to customize your experience as you see fit.
  • Skill-based melee combat: use ability to win against your opponents, using abstract and stylized techniques.
  • Variation: being able to re-play the game with up to 64 people.[7]

At the beginning of development, Marko Grgurovič began development on the game alone. He was later joined by another developer, and after launching the kickstarter campaign, welcomed many more to form a roster of 13 developers which formed Triternion.[8]
