Alan J. Gelenberg, M.D. is Professor and Interim Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Penn State Hershey S. Milton Medical Center. Dr. Gelenberg is the editor of the Biological Therapies in Psychiatry newsletter, which he began over 30 years ago at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry since 1987, Dr. Gelenberg has been on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, MIT, and the University of Arizona. He recently chaired the workgroup that revised the American Psychiatric Association's major depressive disorder guidelines and has written numerous scientific articles and book chapters about mood disorders, schizophrenia, and depression.
