Delete - this article is headed by a tag saying may need to be completely re-written to meet Wikipedia's quality standards. There might be a space in Wikipedia for an article of this nature, but it needs more detail (as it stands, the article does not spell out which years the Democrats and Republicans were in power) and the article could do with a more specific title.
