"Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" (stylized in all lowercase) is a song recorded by American singer Ariana Grande for her fifth studio album Thank U, Next (2019). It was released as the third single from the album on February 8, 2019, the same day the album was released.
Background
The song was registered on APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) in January 2019.[1] It was announced as part of Thank U, Next track listing on January 22, 2019.[2] Grande had originally placed her song "remember" as the closing track for the album. However, a week before the album's release, it was changed to "break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored."[3]
A snippet of the song was uploaded via Instagram on January 23, 2019.[4]
Music video
The music video for the song premiered on Grande's YouTube channel on the same day as the album release, February 8, 2019. The video was directed by Hannah Lux Davis and features Riverdale actor Charles Melton. Billboard magazine called the video "sexy and stylish promo with Ari ruling at a party and putting on her best looks at a mansion in the Hollywood hills".[5]
