COI

You have an obvious conflict of interest, please don't write about yourself friends or family. Note that if you work directly or indirectly for a person or organisation, or otherwise are acting on their behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the person or organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Caelanmac. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Caelanmac|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.

Also read the following regarding writing an article

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that he meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to him or his organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the he claims or interviewing him. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • Your refs were mainly not independent third-party sources.
  • you must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, not just promoting him.
  • there shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • you must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above

Once you have clarified any COI, I'm prepared in principle to restore as a draft, but you should be aware that unless you meet the notability criteria above, it will never get off the ground Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:51, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response

Thanks for the feedback. I did collect a number of third-party sources, and one of them was IMDB, I was unaware that was not accepted. There were a number of references from other reputable publications, and the primary reason I would like the page restored is because I did not save those links elsewhere, and I would like to review what I have written.

The subject of this article is my client, and I will make note of this appropriately. (I'd like to take more time to review the COI requirements before describing exactly how I will do that.) I primarily work on his website, and I wanted to try my hand at a Wikipedia article. I am new at this, and learning, and I am happy to meet the requirements as they are laid out. If I can eventually produce an article that meets the notability requirements, and sufficiently discloses COI, it would be great to publish it here.

If not, at the very least I would like to review the draft that I have written. If you could please restore it, I would be most appreciative. Caelanmac (talk) 06:35, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Response 2

Jimfbleak thanks for the helpful guidance on your talk page. I have updated my own profile page with a disclosure of my COI, as requested.

After you restore the draft for the Mike Rayburn page, I will add the following disclosure, as you recommend:

I also understand that if the edited page does not sufficiently meet the notability requirements, the page will not be published. However, I would still appreciate the restoration of the page, so I can retrieve the content I produced there. Caelanmac (talk) 02:14, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've restored at Draft:Mike Rayburn, I've made these edits, killing the various tags, removing obvious spam and links to his pages. You don't need refs for the discography. That doesn't mean the rest are OK, his own Allmusic page isn't ideal for Carnegie Hall Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:47, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
After reading the Wikipedia guidelines closely, I've published another version of the page. Caelanmac (talk) 03:37, 10 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
