Sundhi

Shoundik also known as Sondhi or Sundi or Sudi, Sundhi is a caste in the Indian States of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The word "Sundhi" is said to be derived from the Sanskrit Shaundik, a Merchant. They are considered in Vaishya caste. [1]. They belong to one of the upper caste ranked below brahmins and some kshatriyas. They are one of the dominating business castes of India(bihar and jharkhand). Shah shaw gupta Jaiswal Panjiyar Purvey sahoo behera mahaseth are surname of Shoundik caste. In Jharkhand most of shoundik were Zamindar's so they used to have LAL surnames for Respect as it is related to honorific title. [1][2]
