What are you trying to do?

I added 6 songs that were released with its source? What is wrong with that? I seriously can not understand you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saint Ranermer (talkcontribs) 23:34, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My edit summaries sufficiently explain my reasons for reverting. I have not forgotten your flagrant vandalism, your egregious personal attack on Binksternet's talk page, your similarly hostile comment (since revdeleted) on this very page, or your blatant abuse of multiple accounts, among other offenses. Given this behavior, you should not be surprised that any user familiar with your history has very little tolerance for your continued disruptive actions. Edits that remove items from a featured list without any explanation are disruptive, regardless of the user responsible. LifeofTau 03:02, 22 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Filter-disco

Hi Life of Tau, this Pitchfork article refers to "I Feel It Coming" as "lilting filter-disco", but do you know what genre article(s) this should link to? The disambig page for filter house has it as synonymous with French house. Theo Mandela (talk) 08:28, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Theo Mandela: Filter house appears to be either a subcategory or synonym of French house, making "filter-disco" a hyphenated genre. I personally would not add it (especially when the article already contains disco as a sourced genre), but if you wish to do so, I would recommend linking it as follows:filter-disco. Hope this helps. LifeofTau 21:20, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was actually planning on replacing disco in the infobox with filter-disco because The Independent only describes the beat of the song as disco. Thanks a lot for explaining. Theo Mandela (talk) 23:19, 11 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Theo Mandela: I have added an additional reference for disco. I find the filter-disco entry to be unnecessary given the genre that precedes it, but we can disagree on this point. LifeofTau 23:42, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the contribution, looking at it now I don't necessarily disagree about filter-disco being in the infobox. Going on what's said here (aim for generability with infobox genres; try and keep to two-four genres in the infobox), I'd keep disco and pop in the infobox and expand on filter-disco in the 'composition' section. "Sicko Mode" and Starboy

Hi Life of Tau, just unsure about which genre(s) exactly Billboard is calling "Sicko Mode" when they say it broke "the mold of what a rap-turned-pop record should sound like" (out of pop-rap, hip hop or/and pop).
And can Rolling Stone saying The Weeknd "stuffs Starboy with dreary alt-R&B boilerplates and arch New Wave near misses" mean alternative R&B and new wave can be sourced in the genre box? Thanks, Theo Mandela (talk) 20:52, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Theo Mandela: I would say that Billboard article can be used to support "Sicko Mode" being hip hop and the Rolling Stone article can be used to support Starboy being alternative R&B and new wave. As far as I can tell, the "x turned y" construction indicates that the work or artist being described is fundamentally x but heavily influenced by y. "Arch" is a relatively unusual qualifier, but it does not appear to invalidate or diminish the "new wave" descriptor being applied to a significant portion of the album. Hope this helps. LifeofTau 23:43, 28 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The edit's already been made to "Sicko Mode", will add alt-R&B/new wave to Starboy. Appreciate the breakdown given, thanks. Theo Mandela (talk) 00:28, 1 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Music genre colours

Text-to-background colour combinations on Wikipedia are required to have a contrast ratio of 7 at the very least. #BB0022 doesn't quite work[1] and crimson (#DC143C) is really far off. [2] Other colours such as olive (#808000)[3] and #A0522D[4] are also far off. My edits helped empty Category:Articles using Template:Infobox music genre with invalid colour combination, by reverting them you effectively re-added 271 pages. Grapesoda22 () 18:19, 16 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you point to where you got the ratio of 7? The instructions at Template:Color_contrast_ratio set a limit of 4.5 for regular text, and even less contrast for large text. MOS:COLOR doesn't mention anything about 7:1 ratio, nor does Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Accessibility#Color or Wikipedia:Colour contrast. Perhaps the mechanism is faulty or outdated for populating the categories with invalid colour combinations. I cannot see where the category gets its ratio, so I cannot judge. It's automatically populated. A possible fix is to adjust the mechanism to allow ratios as low as 4.5 to 1. Binksternet (talk) 20:56, 16 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Life of Tau, can The Musical Hype saying "There's some country, some reggae, and some pop." and Metro saying "and including country-reggae in the case of uninviting opener Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed." mean country and reggae can be sourced in the genre box? Can you help me out? 2402:1980:246:69B6:4794:66A3:F30F:1410 (talk) 19:15, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

LisaAlKhalid (talk) 18:46, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tau, I've added Hi-NRG as a genre, based on this Pitchfork review, but am not sure if it's explicitly being called dance-pop also. Does the "as with" mean 'similar to a lot of crossover UK dance-pop' or 'as with a lot of other UK dance-pop'? It's one of those were if it was spoken I could immediately tell by the inflection how it was meant but because it's written I can't be sure. Theo Mandela (talk) 20:10, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Music genres and WCAG-compliance

Hi Tau, I don't mean to belabor the point, but in going to implement some of your music genre color contrast suggestions, I found that the music genre infobox tags pages as noncompliant if they are below WCAG AAA standards, not AA. I've started a new section on the talk page about it. You might like to weigh in. Mooeena💌✒️ 06:37, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Life of Tau. I found Mic.com says "Katy Perry's pop-rap crossover "Dark Horse," " Can you replace as "pop" is now redundant? 2402:1980:254:D2E5:ADAE:3691:4515:14FA (talk) 10:22, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I mean, "pop-rap" is more accurate than "pop". 2402:1980:824A:61A2:976D:4116:82F:76D3 (talk) 05:03, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hip Hop

WHY DO YOU KEEP DELETING THE ADDITION TO LATINO AMERICANS IN HIP HOP HISTORY?! I keep adding and you keep deleting it?! Hip hop was not only created by African Americans! It was created in the Bronx by both African American and Latino American youth! What’s your issue? Heribertovelazqueziii (talk) 06:15, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It is recorded in history and is a fact. Most of the BBoys were Latino and some of the pioneer DJs were Latino as well. Heribertovelazqueziii (talk) 06:17, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

And rapping was not created because of African spoken words 😂 that’s ridiculous! The youth in the Bronx didn’t have access to those traditions in Africa. That is a ridiculous statement and has been debunked. Heribertovelazqueziii (talk) 06:18, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

5 6 7 8 9 10 11

May you please add these as sources to the hip hop wiki page. I still have not learned how to do it. Thankyou Heribertovelazqueziii (talk) 07:54, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
