Barangay Dayangdang is one of the 27 Barangay of the City of Naga in the Province of Camarines Sur, Bicol Region of the Philippines.

Geophysical information

Location

Barangay Dayangdang is an urban area situated East of Barangay Balatas, West of Barangay Sta. Cruz, South of Barangay Tinago and North of Barangay Peñafrancia.

Topography

The land area of the Barangay is 0.2957 square kilometers(0.11417041 square miles) and it is 0.38% of the total land area of Naga City.

Land use

The residential area occupies the majority land area of Barangay Dayangdang with 0.2613 square kilometers or 88.37% while the commercial area is 0.0241 square kilometers or 8.15% and lastly the river occupies 0.0103 hectares or 3.48%. The soil type of this community Pili Clay Loam.

Hydrography

The only major waterway in the area is Naga River which poses a high risk of flash floods to the nearby residential area.

Means of access

The barangay is accessible to all kinds of vehicles such as pedicabs, tricycles, multi-cabs and the traditionally known kalesa.

The total number of a household as of 1998 is 921 an average of 6 individuals per household.

Settlement and housing data

The Community Multi-Sectoral Assembly that was conducted last September 1998 shows that the out of 936 total number of household 244 or 26% are two storey or multi-storey, 86 or 9% are split level and the remaining 606 or 65% are single storey. Moreover, in building resistance 361 or 39% are in High Risk with light materials, 61 or 7% are in Medium Risk with Semi-concrete building with G.I. Roofing, 79 or 8% are in Low Risk with Concrete frame with G.I. Roof and Walls and the remaining 435 or 46% are No Risk.

Labor segmentation

The labor force of Barangay Dayangdang is 814. From 15-64, 13.33% or 456 are professionals, 2.40% or 82 are in vocational or technical force, laborers composed of 7.75% or 265, self-employed has 0.82 % or 28 individuals while overseas contract workers have 0.26 % or 9 persons. The remaining 75.44% or 2,580 of the total labor force are still finishing education, have undergone further studies, or are unemployed. A total of 217 or 3.93% have retired or have their own business.

Health

The top five illnesses in the Barangay are cardiopulmonary arrest with 11 cases or 0.20 % of the total population, pneumonia with 5 cases or 0.09 %, cardiac arrest with 3 cases or 0.05 %, hypovolemic shock with 2 cases or 0.04 % and hepatic encephalopathy with 1 case or 0.02%.

Gender development

Barangay Dayangdang has a minimal discrepancy in numbers between Male and Female population. The latter has 2,726 individuals while a male has 2801, having a difference of 75 in number or 2.67% in percentage. Hence, the number and percentage of females in governance are 4 or 36.36% and the total contribution percentage of females in the labor force is 49.47% giving a number of 1,692 females working in the labor force.

Livelihood

The means of livelihood in the Barangay are Small scale entrepreneurs, carpentry, tricycle driver, laborer, employee and farming in other places.

Commercial

There are a total of 40 commercial establishments existing in the Barangay which includes a bakery, eatery, carenderia, general merchandise, insurance company, nursery, cut flowers, small scale entrepreneur, and wholesaler of domestic liquor.

These establishments contribute a total annual tax due of 101,455.79.[clarification needed] From this, the minimum tax value that the city received from this establishment is 300.00 and the maximum tax value is 18,527.34. The gross sale of 9,553,842.30 computed annually.

Agriculture

There is no agricultural land area in Barangay although some residents are farming in some other places.
