Deletion of Scranton, Pennsylvania Fire Department information

Hello Magnolia677,

I am new to Wikipedia so I hope I'm using this correctly as intended...

I noticed you deleted my changes for undue weight. I went through and looked up exactly that meant. I'm guessing you believe I went into too much detail. Is there another way I should publish this information or a way I can get it onto the Scranton, Pa page without being taken down? I know there is a very active community of what are known as 'fire buffs' who love this kind of information. Is there a way I can add this information to Wikipedia? I feel as though it was adequately sourced and redirected to all appropriate articles for more information. What do you think?

Respectfully, AnthonyJohn.Romeo (talk) 13:58, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@AnthonyJohn.Romeo: Thank you for writing. The only other way I can think of is by creating a separate Wikipedia article about the fire department. Have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Fire Service and Help:Your first article. Feel free to write if you need help. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 14:20, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Again,

I added citations to my info as well as a link to the Scranton fire Dept's Wikipedia article. Please review it for me and let me know what you think/needs improvement! I wish I could get a hold of the book for the complete history, but unfortunately the library is closed for the COVID-19 social distancing protocols. I'm still new to all this so I hope I'm doing well at this stage. [1] Respectfully, AnthonyJohn.Romeo (talk) 13:16, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Shawn Carter is Jay-Z, which the source correctly states. Also what I wrote isn't silly. Cheers Terminader (talk) 04:10, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regions in infoboxes

Hi Magnolia677,

I noticed you undid some of my edits on some cities' infoboxes. I know you asked my rationale on my talk page, I appreciate you messaging me however I was wondering something. Did these revisions you made come about because I didn't include an edit summary or because you disagree with my edits? I understand that the "Regions" subdivision is not administrative, however since I did include a link to US regions in general and then to the region the city was located in that this provides some additional context for the city/town. As far as I understand the infobox is supposed to be be a summary of both statistics, historical, and geographical information. I really do think that adding information such as regions helps provide the reader with a deeper context. Thoughts?Tpwissaa (talk) 23:48, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yandex Maps Reverted Edit

Hello, Magnolia677,

I believe that Wikipedia should always provide objective information and an unbiased opinion.

The article, which you are talking about, contains potentially misleading information.

In particular, in the Criticism section, it is stated that the satellite mode of Yandex.Maps is not as detailed as Google Maps. This statement is backed up by a reference (website), which I visited so as to make sure this info was true. Judging by the style of the article, along with all the grammar mistakes it contained, I considered this source not sufficiently reliable.

Therefore, I placed a citation needed template so as to demand further support of the statement. Note that I did not delete it, as you claim.

I really apologise if any of my actions offended you in any way or made you feel angry. After all, we want to help each other, don't we?

PS, I did specify the reason of my edit in the edit summary, contrary to your accusation that I did not.

You deleted a perfectly good source, replaced the source with a "citation needed" template, and left the edit summary "Never has the previously specified source stated such a thing". Perhaps I'm missing something. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:37, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wendover Cutoff Reverted Edit

You reverted my edits of the history of the Wendover cutoff - twice. I am a current member of the Lincoln Highway Association and have driven several of the roads in question. The history of the cutoff, the Goodyear Cutoff (contained within the present day Dugway Proving Grounds), and the original Pony Express route - and the controversy between the LHA (of the day) and the State of Utah is quite well known and has been documented in many places.

Please don't revert others work unless you know it is factually incorrect. Wws (talk) 20:20, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Wws: Thank you for writing. Please take a moment to read WP:OR. If the information is well documented it should be easy to find a reliable source to support it. If you need help please see Help:Referencing for beginners. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:23, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Apology over page moves

I guess I took Be bold too far with the page moves. Sorry for that. --Chelston-temp-1 (talk) 23:28, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Page on Parchman Prison

Hello Magnolia677.

I'm very ashamed to earn a caution on my first day doing something on Wikipedia! I'm rubbish at editing Html. Really sorry. Was doing my best. I was just outraged when I read that Unit 29 had been closed. It hasn't been closed. I felt I had to correct this. And while I was at it, make clear that there remain major concerns about the place, as evidenced by the concerns raised both in the Department of Health inspection and in the ongoing Department of Justice investigation. I felt that the existing text deliberately obscured this.

I (reluctantly) sourced the page I wrote myself because it is actually the only place I know where the 2019 Department of Health Report is actually available to the public. Although the document is public domain and there is a link to it on the DoH website which I cite first, the 2019 report will not download from that link (I think because it has a hundred pages of photos and is too big). I have contacted the DoH about this and got no reply. Our blog page therefore simply reproduced bitmapped images of every page of that report and the all the photographs, with a factual breakdown of the contents and minimum commentary at the top, to make them available to the public, which they should be). — Preceding unsigned comment added by CarlyRheilan (talkcontribs) 00:45, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Palm Springs, California

Hello; Recently you made some cleanup changes to the Palm Springs, California article. Thank you for the updates. The article was much improved. One deletion you made was the alternate name of the city used by the Cahuilla Indians. Because every other square mile of the city is part of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians reservation, I believe it is an important aspect of the city that should be mentioned in the introduction. You seem to be better acquainted with WP guidelines than I. Would you please review the changes I made to the articles opening paragraphs. Thank you. OvertAnalyzer (talk) 16:38, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@OvertAnalyzer: Thank you for writing. One of my edits was this one, and my edit summary was "per MOS:FIRST". The Cahuilla are described in detail in the history section. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:07, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnolia677: I did add part of that deletion back, but not in the first sentence. It is towards the last part of the first paragraph, but I put it in the context of the fact that half of the City of Palm Springs is part of the Agua Caliente Indian reservation. I view the Native American influence, and the reservation, as two important aspects of the city. Given that every other square mile of the city, in a checkerboard pattern, is part of their reservation, and the Native American people lived in the area long before Palm Springs was founded, their relevance to the city is substantial. They still refer to the area as Sec-He. As an example, they are developing a new spa in downtown Palm Springs called The Spa At Sec-He, not The Spa at Palm Springs. I agree the article should not attempt to describe the Cahuilla history as part of this article. My intent is to describe their relationship to the city as it is today, since they do represent a large part of the city. Hope that makes sense.

@OvertAnalyzer: They are heavily invested in hotels, casinos, a golf resort, and an entertainment venue. They sell lots of "traditional" Indian trinkets all over the county too. I'd read WP:UNDUE before adding too much historical detail. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:26, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnolia677: I think I understand your point. I don't have a way of reviewing the original references that were provided in October, 2017, but it is hard to find many uses of the word Sec-He, or it's various spellings. In fact I have a book, "Cahuilla Dictionary", and it says the word for water is pa'-l and warm water is pa'-l si'wis is hot water. There are a number of references in the Palm Springs Historical Society's archives, but I don't have a way to access those online. Possibly some time in the future when this virus trouble is over. I am going to start a conversation on the Palm Springs talk page to get some additional feedback. OvertAnalyzer (talk) 01:31, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Joseph Volpe

Hi @Magnolia677:

I hope that I'm doing this correctly, I'm relatively new to editing wikipedia (started doing this due to downtime from COVID-19) so apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong way. I sort of understand why you deleted Mr. Volpe's daughter as it's not mentioned in the link I sourced, however the interview literally talks about them living in Manhattan and Sarasota - it's even titled Metropolitan Opera General Manager relocates to Sarasota. What else would be needed? Also, and this isn't meant to sound rude, but why is it so necessary to provide a source to the fact that he has a daughter with Jean? It's basic common knowledge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Petrouska (talkcontribs) 01:15, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, out of curiosity, why did you change Mr.Volpe's entry in Sarasota from former general manager to general manager? I'm just curious if that is a formatting thing or something else, as he is obviously not the current General Manager of the Met. And again, rather than going back and forth on the Sarasota page, why have you removed Iain Webb? None of the other people have sources, why does he? Petrouska (talk) 01:21, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
