Tony Dokoupil Jr. (born 1980) is an American broadcast journalist, known for his work as a co-anchor of CBS This Morning. He was also a news correspondent for CBS News and MSNBC.
Early life
Tony Dokoupil Jr. was born in Connecticut in the year 1980.[1][2] His mother, Ann, worked as a teacher, while his father, Anthony, was a marijuana dealer.[3][4] He and his mother relocated to Maryland when he was six.[3] Dokoupil later attended George Washington University and Columbia University.[2][5]
Career
From 2007 to 2013, Dokoupil was a senior writer at the magazine Newsweek and the website The Daily Beast.[6] In September 2013, he joined NBC News as a senior writer.[7] He released a memoir titled The Last Pirate: A Father, His Son, and the Golden Age of Marijuana on April 1, 2014.[8] Dokoupil later became a reporter on MSNBC.[2] Following his departure from NBC News and MSNBC, he joined CBS News as a New York-based correspondent in August 2016.[6] On May 6, 2019, Dokoupil was named a new co-anchor of CBS This Morning;[9] he made his debut on the program on May 20.[10]
Personal life
It was reported in 2014 that Dokoupil had two children.[11] Dokoupil married fellow broadcast journalist Katy Tur in October 2017.[12] The couple welcomed their first child together, a son, on April 13, 2019.[13]
