The XV Beacon is a hotel at 15 Beacon St. in Boston, Massachusetts.
It is located in a ten-story 1903 building, originally the Boston Transit Commission Building, later owned by the city of Boston and used for Boston Public Schools administration. It was sold by the city in 1998. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
The building is either Beaux Arts[1] or Classical Revival[2] in style, and was designed by William Gibbons Preston.[2]
It is a member of the Historic Hotels of America.[1]
The site, earlier, was the location of a 1722-built mansion of merchant Edward Bromfield.[3]
The hotel has art works by Jules Olitski, Gilbert Stuart, Maggi Brown, Martha Lloyd, Joe Greene, Tony Evanko, Ben Freeman, and other artists.[3]
