History?
Does anyone know how long the size of this body has been 18 or whether this number is fixed? Qqqqqq (talk) 22:27, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- The first senate of American Samoa was organized in 1948, with 12 members, while the territory was still governed by the Navy. In 1952, under the Department of the Interior, the senate was expanded to 15 members. This number was also kept by the first constitution of American Samoa, adopted in 1960. The current constitution, adopted in 1967, expanded the senate to 18 members, who began their first term in 1969. The number of senators has remained fixed at 18 since then.[1] Heitordp (talk) 01:37, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
