Home Alone is an upcoming comedy family film-comedy film directed by Dan Mazer with a script by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell, based on Home Alone franchise. It will premiere on Disney+.[1]

Plot

A child named Max faces off against a married couple after he steals something of theirs.

Development

On August 6, 2019, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that a reboot of Home Alone is in development and would premiere on the company's streaming service, Disney+.[2][3] By October of the same year, Dan Mazer had entered negotiations to direct the film, with a script co-written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson will serve as producers.[4][5]

Casting

On December 10, 2019, Variety broke the news for the first set of casting with Archie Yates, Rob Delaney and Ellie Kemper attached to star in the film with Yates set to play Max and Delaney and Kemper cast in undisclosed roles.[6][7] In April 2020, it was reported Macaulay Culkin would appear in the film.[8][9] In July 2020, it was reported that Ally Maki, Kenan Thompson, Chris Parnell, Aisling Bea, Pete Holmes, Timothy Simons, and Mikey Day had joined the cast.[10]

Filming

The principal photography began in February 2020 in Canada.[11] Filming was halted in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.[10][12][13]
