Dr Muhammad Ziaur Rahman Azmi ( Dr. Muhammad Diya Al-Rahman Al-Azami in Arabic ) was an Author, Scholar, Professor and Ex Dean of Department of Hadith at Islamic University of Madinah
Background
He was born into a Brahmin family and was named Banke Lal in Bilarya Ganj a village near Azamgarh , Uttar Pradesh. He was introduced to Islam by late Hakeem Ayub, The oneness of Allah, The message of peace, equality and justice left him fascinated. However he started learning about Islam to counter the fellow Muslims. But rather he was convinced that Islam is the One true religion, As he stated in his interview [4]. At the age of 18 he converted to Islam. Following his conversion, his life was in danger. He then migrated from his hometown to Jamia Darussalam University, Oomerabad where he learned Quran and Hadith for about 5 years. Later On he went to madinah and completed his Bachelor's Degree from Islamic University of Madinah . He went on to complete his Master's from King Abdul Aziz University (Umm al-Qura University) at Makkah and he obtained his PhD from al-Azhar University, cairo. He was then appointed as a professor at the Islamic University of Madinah. Impressed by his work he was then awarded Saudia Arabia Citizenship. He then held various position at the University . He was the Dean of Hadith section at the University when he passed away at 30th July 2020

He is the author of several books , Most popular of them being " Al-Jamiul Kamil Fee Al-Hadith As-Sahih Al-Shamil " - a complete collection of all sahih hadiths

He is also the teacher of Dr Zakir Naik[5] and Dr Yasir qadhi[6]
