SOBHA Limited is an Indian multinational real estate developer headquartered in Bangalore, India.[2] which works in the business of construction, development, sale, management and operation, townships, housing projects, commercial premises and other related activities[3] [4]

History

SOBHA Limited was founded in 1995 by Mr. P.N.C. Menon.[5] Since inception, as of March 31, 2020 SOBHA has delivered real estate projects and contractual projects covering about 109.74 million square feet of area. The Company currently has ongoing real estate projects aggregating to 39.36 million square feet of developable area and 27.41 million square feet of saleable area, and ongoing contractual projects aggregating to 9.44 million square feet under various stage of construction. The Company has a real estate presence in 10 cities, viz. Bangalore, Gurgaon, Chennai, Pune, Coimbatore, Thrissur, Calicut, Cochin, Gujarat (Gift City) and Mysore. Overall, SOBHA has footprint in 27 cities and 14 states across India.[6][7][8][9][10]

The company has also executed projects for some of India's corporate houses, including Infosys, WIPRO, HCL, Dell, Bosch, Biocon, Taj Group of Hotels and ITC Hotels.[11]

The company is also planning to invest INR 500 crore residential development in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City),[12][13][14]

Change in name: The company changed its name to "Sobha Ltd" with effect from 18 August 2014.[15]

They have achieved growth with backward integration in the construction and real estate development business in India.[16] Their long-term performance has been supported by the in-house production of construction items and furniture. The company has a geographic presence in 27 cities in 14 states.[17] Internationally, Sobha Ltd has operations running in Oman with a footprint in Dubai[18][19][20] as Sobha Realty.

They have started 4 manufacturing divisions – Glazing and Metal Works, Interiors, Restoplus (Spring Mattress) and Concrete Products.[22]

Corporate Initiatives

Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust [24] is a public charitable trust found by SOBHA Limited in 2006. The trust runs CSR activities since 2006 and the activities include providing healthcare facilities, education, vocational training for the needy and looking after the aged and elderly citizens. This trust is a realization of Mr PNC Menon’s vision. This trust has adopted three panchayats in Palakkad District, Kerala - Vadakkenchery, Kannambra and Kizhakkenchery- under the ambit of Graamasobha, a program based on Gram Swaraj concept.[SK1]

SOBHA Academy[25] was started in the year 2007 to empower and enable the rural poor to break away from the vicious circle of poverty, ignorance, deprivation, and exclusion by providing their children with high-quality education.

SOBHA Dowry-less Social Wedding[26] is aimed at supporting girls from economically weaker sections of society, this programme of the Trust has successfully completed 647 marriages so far.
