A portal in an area of discretionary sanctions. It presents snippets of articles that generally lack the context and balanced views of the big risks and criticisms of cryptocurrencies found in the actual articles. No human is writing these short versions with the knowledge they will be displayed, so we are not getting proper perspective, which could actually harm people. There are no references which goes against V. The category tree is also incomplete, emphasizing two crytos over all others. I can't see why anyone should be going to the Ref desks for advice on crypto. Legacypac (talk) 04:57, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Delete All- Regardless of what one thinks about portals in general, a portal in an area where Wikipedia is actively trying to reduce editing in order to reduce disruptive editing is a bad idea. Delete the portal. Robert McClenon (talk) 06:50, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Question - Are there any other portals in areas subject to discretionary sanctions? Robert McClenon (talk) 06:50, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Comment - Oh. Yes. Plans for large numbers of counties in India. Maybe most of the counties are far enough away from the western border as to be safe. Robert McClenon (talk) 06:50, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Question Wikipedia:Community discretionary sanctions is a failed proposal. Is this the term the same as 'area of discretionary sanctions'? --Ancheta Wis (talk | contribs) 08:00, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Ancheta Wis: see WP:AC/DS --DannyS712 (talk) 08:09, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Actually I don't see anything crypto-related listed at WP:DSTOPICS; has the list not been updated, or am I just not seeing it? UnitedStatesian (talk) 17:37, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

- I did not use quite the correct wikipedia term. It is here Wikipedia:General_sanctions/Blockchain_and_cryptocurrencies Legacypac (talk) 18:06, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks! UnitedStatesian (talk) 18:12, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- A read of AN today shows even some of our most experienced admins don't fully grasp the various ways we impose sanctions here under different terms. Legacypac (talk) 18:22, 28 February 2019 (UTC)

- Delete all Nothing helpful is on the page which only serves to distract from the relevant articles. Johnuniq (talk) 09:09, 28 February 2019 (UTC) Updated for explicit delete on both pages. Johnuniq (talk) 22:07, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Update I've added Portal Bitcoin for exactly the same reasons. If anyone objects to it's deletion too please speakup. User:Johnuniq, User:DannyS712, User:Robert McClenon Legacypac (talk) 16:25, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Comment - Changed from Delete to Delete All in case any more cryptocurrencies are bundled in here. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:12, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Comment - I have deleted one of the two entries from the transclusion list. We only need to list this once. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:15, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. I had redirected but forgot to delete from the list. Legacypac (talk) 17:31, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Delete all - do not add anything of value. --K.e.coffman (talk) 19:26, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
Any page with this many moving parts that can be created in 3 minutes has been created without much thought as to what it should contain and how it should be presented. Legacypac (talk) 19:32, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Comment - I had theorized that User:The Transhumanist was creating these portals because creating portals is fun. They questioned my assertion, implying that it is hard work to create portals and that they do it out of a sense of duty or something. Well, well. It appears that creating portals is fun. - Question - Does the warning above that only one revert in 24 hours is permitted apply to this MFD also? Robert McClenon (talk) 03:17, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- Funny :) Legacypac (talk) 06:01, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
